Once we had prepared the molding we were ready to put the diy mirror frame up.
How to build a mirror frame with molding. Lay out mirrors on a flat surface where they will not be damaged. Determine where the mirrors will be hung along the wall and measure. Using the chop saw cut molding to fit around the mirrors like a picture frame. Apply wood glue to the hardboard strips and clamp them in place.
The hardboard strips should lie flush with the surface of the mirror and create an even plane for the molding to be installed. Apply mirror glue to the back of the mirror in a zigzag pattern and nestle it inside the hardboard strips. Nail and glue the frame of the mirror together. Once your molding is cut you need to paint the back of the molding near the top edge so the unfinished back won t be reflected in the mirror when the molding is installed.
Measure mark and cut four pieces of wood using either a butt cut or a mitered cut and using construction adhesive and duct tape to hold each piece of wood while the glue dries attach one board. We had mirror mastic as i had seen. Carefully align the mirror to the back and press it into place. Put a thin bead of silicone around the edge of the mirror or inside lip of the frame.
