Making Activated Charcoal Poultice

To make activated charcoal start by placing a metal pot full of bits of hardwood over an open fire. Activated charcoal can also be used to make a poultice for an abscess. Carefully wash off with a damp cloth. Mix charcoal 1 to 2 tbs with a little water to form a wet paste. Flaxseed or cornstarch optional but very helpful. Spread the paste on one half of a folded paper towel loosely woven cloth.
After you ve cooked it for 5 hours let it cool then rinse the charcoal under cool water. It firms up after a while and then to a consistency which can be peeled off eventually. If you need to use activated charcoal for an eye problem s then you can make a small 2 x 2 charcoal poultice see above and place it over one eyelid for 8 10 hours repeat for the other eyelid. Repeat twice a day until healed.
Then cover the paste by folding over the other half of the paper towel or cloth. Makes a good facial mask. Just mix activated charcoal powder with ground flaxseed until it turns pasty but don t make it too thin. Combine a teaspoon of activated charcoal powder with just enough water to wet the powder to create a paste.
An activated charcoal poultice can be made any size using a band aid to make a small one or a cotton sheet to make a large one. Try a less messy poultice by mixing the activated charcoal with a little fine psyllium powder and water to a manageable paste. Next place the charcoal poultice on the affected body part. Leave on for 10 minutes.
